Display coffee table – here created in unique collaboration with shell artist Blott Kerr Wilson. Abalone shells (commonly known as Asses Ears) are set in waves of movement, their iridescent surface reflecting the light from all angles, giving the appearance of a wave having swept across the surface.

The table featured is available to purchase and measures: 120cm length, 80cm depth, 45 cm high. The table is designed to be custom made to your preferred specification in size, colour and in the set of the shells. The shellwork here has a vigorous feel, with the shells set nearly on end, whereas a calmer feel is achieved by the shells being set at a flatter angle. A matter of personal taste. See illustrations of other artworks in the artist’s gallery as a point of reference.

Materials & Finishes

This prototype is made in solid tulipwood, painted with a lacquered finish for durability.

Custom tables can be finished in the same lacquered paint finish or in a mildly distressed finish.

You may choose your brand and colour of paint and we can offer recommendations such as Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball which as a stronger colour sets off the shells beautifully. In this instance the filament in the top can be interchanged with nickel or brass to elevate the overall finish.

Please enquire for more information, custom orders begin with a conversation by phone or email.
