Our service

Guilded actively promotes custom made and bespoke commissions. To that end, any work presented on this website can be regarded as inspiration and a gallery of potential, including requests for custom size or finish.

We also welcome enquiries for proposals where clients wish to commission an original artwork for a specific location, whether that be a blank canvas space or to unite an existing interior scheme or art collection.

There are no barriers to Guilded’s service and we realise projects large and small from first enquiry to installation whether that be in London or Bangkok, for a pool-house wall or liaising with other parties in respect of a public space. Details and images of such commissions will be provided on request.

COMMISSIONS

Guilded facilitates your commission with professional oversight, enabling you to enjoy the aesthetic process and finished work in situ. It is our role to draw out the pertinent facts that may affect the choice of proposals and to provide suggestions and costings to you without obligation.

We contribute our experience, working through the practical, financial, contractual and aesthetic aspects of the commission – providing drawings, samples and a quotation. Once these are approved, we oversee production and ensure the piece is finished to our exacting standards prior to delivery.

When the commission is finished in a workshop, we make all the necessary arrangements for the transport and installation of the work, whether in the UK or abroad. Where works require complex installation abroad or where a commission is to be realised on site Guilded is overseeing the entire process and ensuring all is in place for this to be delivered smoothly and where, necessary, being in attendance on-site.

Clients are encouraged to be as involved in the process as they wish, to visit the workshop and meet the artist and to witness the work being created in situ should that be possible. For those clients who are abroad or unable to travel, we offer an informal photographic record of progress as the project evolves.

SHIPPING

When you are considering purchasing a piece from Guilded you can rest assured that we will take care of all aspects of its transportation, delivery and installation.

We only engage BIFA or IATA accredited firms who match our standards of service.

You will be presented with a range of options from grouped carriage, direct delivery, sea or air freight, with or without ‘white glove delivery’. We will take the time to explain the time frame of each service and supply you with estimates. We are also happy to deliver to your own shipping agent for export packing.

Whatever the method of transportation, every work of art we handle is professionally packed with care, including a bespoke case for exports.

We do require that goods are insured from collection to delivery, and usually this is automatically included under Guilded’s own ‘goods in transit’ insurance. However, individual cases may require the goods to travel under the shipper’s policy, something we arrange by default.  In this event and depending on the shipping firm the cost is between 1.75% and 2% of the value of the piece, depending on the shipper, with a modest excess of approximately £250.

Where installation is required, this is either carried out by the artist or the shipper’s own team. In the case of major commissioned works the installation is personally overseen by Guilded founder Charlotte Bowater.

TERMS

Our terms and conditions respect international trading law standards and include, but are not restricted to, matters of contract, warranties, liability, and with respect to returns and the changing of mind.

Contract: Our acceptance of your order will take place when we email you to accept it, and with respect to commissioned goods (which for the purposes of these terms shall mean bespoke goods designed and manufactured in accordance with the specification) when we are in receipt of a deposit of 50% of the price of such commissioned goods, at which point a contract will come into existence between you and us.  Any specification for the goods, including any related plans and drawings, must be agreed in writing between you and us.

Payment terms: All goods must be paid for in full before we dispatch them to you.

Payment is requested by bank transfer, and in so doing you agree to bear the full costs of any charges incurred by your bank in processing and sending your payment to our account. Card payments are processed with a surcharge equal to the rate of commission charged to Guilded above certain thresholds.

Delivery: Where we have supplied a third party shipping estimate, in the unusual event of any additional accrued costs on delivery, we will advise you and request immediate settlement. You are responsible for establishing and paying any customs, import or other duties in respect of the importation of goods into your country of residence or that to which the goods are to be delivered.

Price: The price of the product includes VAT unless marked otherwise. The price of the product is exclusive of all costs and charges of packaging insurance and transport of goods.

Data protection: We will only give your personal information to other third parties where the law either requires or allows us to do so. However, we do not as a policy share any information about enquirers or clients other than in the event of an order with a shipper who is likewise bound by the Data Protection Act.

Returns: We do accept returns of purchased products but not commissioned products. Please refer to our full terms and conditions of sale.
