Guilded specialises in bespoke furniture and art with commissions falling into custom made and original works. Please read on for more details. Below you will also find case studies of recent commissions.
We regularly deliver custom orders based on a design or technique by a maker that we represent: with variations in scale, material or finish that respond to your space and existing furnishings.
We can also work from inspiration provided by images supplied (typically this could be a photograph of a 1950's table, which our client wants to emulate but adapt in some way for modern living). Here we will recommend the workshop we feel right for the job and establish quotes, samples and the design for presentation. We will then oversee production and facilitate delivery.
Guilded has a strong track record with repeat business. Usually a client first spotted a design or artwork represented by Guilded and makes an initial enquiry. This sparks a relationship built in mutual trust and understanding of what a client is looking for, leading to Guilded offering proposals without obligation.
Commissions build on existing collections or interior furnishing schemes, or sit in a specific architectural or interior context. In these instances, Guilded develops the brief in tandem with each client, and considers the artist or workshop we feel is best suited to the project. Guilded serves to contribute aesthetic input and to draw out the skills of the maker to develop an original proposal.
Guilded is here to facilitate your commission, leaving you only with the pleasure of the aesthetics and none of the administrative detail. It is our role to draw out the pertinent facts that may affect the choice of proposals, and to provide suggestions and costings to you our client, without obligation.
We contribute our experience, working through the practical, financial and aesthetic aspects of the commission - providing drawings, samples and a quotation. Once these are approved, we oversee production and ensure the piece is finished to our exacting standards prior to delivery.
Once a piece is finished in a workshop, we make all the necessary arrangements for the transport and installation of the work, whether in the UK or abroad. Where major works are involved, Guilded is on hand to personally supervise the process.
Clients are encouraged to be as involved in the process, to visit the workshop and meet the artist and to witness the work being created in situ. For those clients who are abroad or unable to travel, we offer an informal photographic record of progress as the project evolves.
