While the artist pages on this site show a blend of work that is available and made to order, these represent a lead-in or introduction, to the potential for commission. Bespoke art create specifically for a client represents a significant proportion of projects carried out, home and abroad.
Charlotte Bowater is often approached by clients who are looking to her eye and skill in matching an artist to a project and bringing out the full potential of artists. While the artists featured on this site invite Charlotte to represent specific pieces for sale, others put commissions to her to project manage on their behalf.
For example, wire artist Celia Smith was approached to develop a bespoke piece for a client in the Middle East, and having no prior experience of this market asked Charlotte to act as agent. In so doing, the client is contractually served by Guilded, requiring Charlotte to deliver her professional and personal service from enquiry to installation as required.
The third scenario is where a client, private or design trade, has a space or brief to fulfil and wants Charlotte to deliver an aesthetically unique project. In this situation the requirement is drawn out while taking into contextual considerations such as the taste of the owner and use of the space, the physicality of the space including dimensions, access, lighting, existing design, materials and furnishing, , and the wider cultural context which includes appreciation of conveying the owner in an appropriate way – whether that be in view of those who will see the artwork and what it says about the patron.
